A mesma resolução do Parlamento Europeu lembra a responsabilidade individual dos Estados-membros na prevenção e combate dos incêndios nos seus territórios.
O documento defende também uma verdadeira estratégia à escala europeia face aos 315 mil hectares devastados pelas chamas no Sul da Europa este Verão, salientando a proporcionalidade entre a frequência dos incêndios na Europa e o agravamento do aquecimento global.
